Indian Medical Association is the only representative/National voluntary organization of Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine, which looks after the interest of Doctors as well as the well being of the community at large.

In view of the increasing demand and acute shortage of the trained Nurses and other Allied Health Science professionals in the Hospitals and their important role in the Hospital establishments held by the IMA Members, it is resolved to organize the following Allied Health Sciences by the Indian Medical Association-Tamil Nadu State Branch under Paramedical Wing.  As a part of various programmes under it, one of the main programme is to train the Paramedics in various courses with meager expenditure. These programmes are going on   in IMA TNSB for last 12 years, where thousand of paramedics passed out and being placed in various IMA NHB Hospitals.

There is an elected Chairman, Secretary and a Joint Secretary to administer the Paramedical Wing. We have around 150 registered Paramedical Institutions with us, where around 100 are conducting regular Paramedical courses with more than 2250 students in I, II year and III year. The certificates by the IMA TNSB Paramedical Wing is being accepted by the IMA NHB Hospitals of Tamil Nadu. IMA TNSB has signed MOU with the HSSC, which would conduct an upscaling online examination and issue certificate to our passed-out students.  The certificate issued by the HSSC is authorized the paramedics to work in the NABH hospitals.

The Paramedics are trained with the qualified faculties and the Doctors.  Time to time examinations are conducted to ensure the students are cope up with the curriculum followed by IMA TNSB Paramedical Wing.

Other important programme conducted are:

1. Online classes on every Thursday from 1.00 PM to 02.00 PM by the eminent faculties.
2. Regional wise Orientation programme
3. Annual Sports and Convocation.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE:

In view of the increasing demand and acute shortage of the trained Nurses and Allied Health Science professionals in the Hospitals and their important role in the Hospital establishments held by the IMA Members, it is resolved to organize the following Allied Health Sciences by the Indian Medical Association-Tamilnadu State Branch under Paramedical Wing.

Paramedical education in India is in need of people who are trained to meet the growing needs of the healthcare sector. It has become one of India’s largest sector – both in terms of revenue and generating employment. This sector comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health Insurance and medical equipment. These healthcare sector is growing at a high pace due to it’s strengthen coverage, service and increasing expenditure by public as well as private place.

OFFICE STRUCTURE:

Indian Medical Association Tamailnadu State Branch is governed by the State President, Immediate State President, State President Elect, Hony. State Secretary and Hony. State Finance Secretary.  For an easy operational convenient, there are Wings and Schemes under the State Office functioned by the Chairman and Secretaries, who will look after administrative activities.  IMA TNSB Paramedical wings is being functioned by the Chairman, Hony. Secretary and the Joint Secretary. There is a Manager at the State Office and the staff to coordinate the training programme with the Training centres at various centres in Tamilnadu.

The technical part of this wing is being looked after by the Academic Committee of IMA Paramedical Wing consists of Doctors and the Principals of various Paramedical Institutions, who will support in preparing Curriculum, Text book, conducting exam etc.

COURSES UNDERTAKEN:

PRE REQUSITE FOR APPROVAL:

1. Any IMA TNSB member having Hospital and the members of Nursing Home board of IMA can start the course.
2. Any IMA branch by pooling their clinical resources together and having common academic teaching institution.
3. IMA Paramedical Courses are hospital based, Hospital must have min. 15 beds.
4. The Chairman/Managing Director/ Doctor in-charge of this Institute must be a member of Indian Medical Association.
5. Qualified faculties (Degree level) -BSc Nursing etc. There should be a faculty for each 30 students in each course.
6. Class room (one class room for 20 students)
7. Library
8. Training Aids-Computer, Projector, LCD etc.

ACCREDITATION PROCEDURE:

1. Inspection-Qualified Doctors will be nominated to conduct inspection and submit the report. Based on the inspection report, necessary accreditation procedure initiated.
2. Based on the inspection report, provisional approval will be issued with the eligible seats.
3. MOU will be signed by the Chairman of Paramedical Wing and the Chairman/Managing Director/Training in-charge of the Paramedical Wing at the training centre/Hospital side.
4. Necessary Accreditation Certificate will be issued, which is valid for 3 years. Accreditation should be renewed every after three years before commencing the academic session.

FEE STRUCTURE:

• Empanelment of Paramedical Institute with IMA TNSB Paramedical Wing- Rs. 5000/-
• Renewal of Accreditation- Rs. 5000/-
• One-time fee-One/Two-year courses – Rs. 10000/-& 20000/- for AHA Course. Break in continuation may have to pay the One- time pay again.
• Admission fee (incl. Text book, records, I card) – Rs. 2000 per year
• Exam fee (per subject) – Rs. 200
• Convocation absentia – Rs. 1000/- per institute.

QUALIFICATION OF THE STUDENT: X pass for one year course/XII Pass for three-year courses

Application should contain: Name with Initial, DOB are as per the X/XII mark sheet) filled by the student, signed by the Inst. authorities and duly stamped.

Declaration form in Tamil (Students and the parents must be briefed about the declaration and signed by them.

No cancellation of admission/substitution of student is allowed.

Student should wear white chudidhar with sleeveless jacket with below mentioned colours for different courses.

Male students should wear black pant with below mentioned coloured shirts for different courses.

EXAM:

1^st Term test                      : December ( by Inst)

2^nd Term test                     : April ( By inst)

Model Test                        : May (by IMA TNSB PMW-Exam held at Inst)

Final Exam                         : June (by IMA TNSB PMW)-Exams are held in a common exam centre with

external invigilators.   Institutions heads are requested to nominate their staff for the invigilation duty to out stations, whenever requested. TA DA will be provided as per IMA TNSB norms.

Result                                  : Last week of August

Convocation                      : 2^nd Sunday of October

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. 80% attendance is a must for appearing for examination.
2. All the students should maintain a log book of their activities, which should be submitted during the final examination.

3. Both academic and Clinical teaching must be as per the guidelines of IMA TNSB Paramedical Wing.
4. The nature and acceptability of courses must be explained and written consent should be obtained from each student.

5. Local Co-Ordinator may arrange the job opportunity to the passed-out students.
6. The courses shall not be conducted with profit motive but for need based and self-reliant manner.

IMA PARAMEDICAL COURSES PASSED OUT CANDIDATES ARE:

• Eligible for appointment in IMA NHB Hospitals and other Private Hospitals.
• Not eligible for appointment in Government Hospitals.
• Not eligible to register in Nursing Council.
